New to Pilates

Pilates for Beginners

If you are brand new to using Pilates machines or Pilates classes, we require that you take a private session before entering into the equipment classes. In this session we have the opportunity to access your gait, shoulder organization, spine and pelvis alignment as well as any areas of interest that we will want to address such as injuries, muscle imbalances and or goals. The more that we can discover about you the better we may serve you in a class setting so that we may custom tailor each class/session to your needs. The first session also allows you to learn the fundamentals and the machines so that when you enter a class you may do so safely and with progress. It could be rather frustrating to spend the entire hour trying to understand as opposed to feeling the beneficial movements. After this session we can help guide you into classes that will best suit you.

What to Expect

If you have never been to Pilates class before, it may be a bit intimidating to see all the equipment. But  the equipment is user friendly and will feel like an extension of your body.  You can perform a vast range of exercises and Pilate moves on the Reformers, chairs, spring boards and trapeze, using the springs to provide guidance and resistance throughout your workout. These machines really will deliver you to that next level.  There are different types of Pilates:   therapeutic, sporty, sport specific. We have group classes that appeal to all.   The classes tone and firm up the entire body, with special emphasis on the core. The springs can be adjusted to different resistance levels to whatever is right for the user. We want you to walk away feeling taller, better aligned, strong and simply moving well.

Pilates does not stress the body in the ways that lifting weights or other workout methods may, this is why everyone can do it.   Your bones will strengthen, muscles will tone and firm, and circulation will improve.   But, most of all, as you work out and begin to feel better physically, you will gain mental clarity, energy and hold yourself with an improved posture.
